Heather Knowles Korn began her musical career at the age of 6 in Beatrice, Nebraska. She began playing the saxophone at age 9 and began singing at age 15. In high school she was not only an avid musician, but very involved in theatre and forensics. Throughout high school she excelled in all areas of performance earning places in various honor choirs and winning district and state competitions.


Mrs. Korn received her bachelor of music degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1996. She was a one time recipient of the Edna Barrett Jackson Scholarship, a one time recipient of the Crawford Endowed Scholarship, a three time recipient of the Frederick A. Schauwecker Scholarship and a four time recipient of the Daniel Coe Scholarship. Upon graduation she was awarded a Performers Certificate and the Crawford Music Prize for the Outstanding Senior Musician from the music faculty. She was also honored to sing the Alma Mater at the 1996 Coe College commencement ceremony.

Mrs. Korn studied with Margie V. Marrs and Ai-ze Wang during her voice study at Coe and she also participated in the concert band, jazz band and concert choir. During the four years that she attended Coe, she was the National Anthem singer for Coe athletics events.    

As part of her completion of her music degree at Coe College, she participated in the New York Term in the spring of 1996. She moved to New York City where she completed four credits in music, dance, theatre and art. She studied voice privately with Mary Ann Hart and also interned with the Metropolitan Opera Guild Education Department.

Mrs. Korn was accepted into the master's program of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 1996. She attended the Conservatory for a brief time in 1997. She later enrolled in the master's program at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln where she sang with the University Singers and studied voice with Dr. Peggy Holloway. She graduated with her Master's of Music in Voice Performance in 2000.

Heather Korn is an active performer and has an extensive performing resume in theatre, chorus, band, jazz band and solo performance.  She has sung with the Las Vegas Philharmonic Chorus and has been a frequent soloist with the Las Vegas Master Singers. She was honored to sing in the Grand Opening Concert of the Henderson Pavilion in 2002. She has served three terms on the board of directors for the Las Vegas Master Singers and served as President of the Board from 2004 - 2006. She is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) on both the national and local levels. She performed solo recitals in 2006 at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and 2007 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  She has adjudicated vocal and piano competitions for National Association of Teachers of Singing, Las Vegas Music Teachers Association and National Federation of Music Clubs.

Mrs. Korn worked as a full time private voice and piano coach in Las Vegas, Nevada from 2001 to 2009. Her students have been accepted to the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts , the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Her students perform in regular recitals and competitions and excelled in the music and theatre programs of the Clark County School District as well as the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts and the Meadows School. Her students successfully competed for eight years in the local Las Vegas NATS Chapter Study Awards.

In 2006, she was inducted as a Patron into the Coe College chapter of Mu Psi Epsilon. She most recently studied private voice with Professor Michael Cochran of UNLV.  She is a former member of the Las Vegas Music Teachers Association and the Las Vegas Chapter of NATS. She is a current member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and the National Association for Music Education (MENC).  She was featured in an article in YourAccompanist.com in April, 2008 and in Classical Singer Magazine in November, 2008. She was a visiting voice instructor for the University of the West Indies in Montserrat in 2008 where she worked with the Emerald Community Singers, Voices and other singers on the island and was interviewed by Montserrat National Radio (ZJB).

In June of 2009 she relocated her teaching studio to Trenton, Tennessee and she is looking forward to working with the Tennessee chapter of NATS, MTNA, ACDA and MENC as well as the Nite Lite Theatre of Gibson County and other local music, theatre and performing organizations. She is a member of the Tennessee Theatre Association and the Greater Gibson County Chamber of Commerce.
